Croissant with Chocolate

Beef Masala

Ingredients

  • 1 x Yellow Onion, sliced thin

  • 4 x Garlic Cloves, minced

  • 1kg Stewing Beef

  • 1 x cup Tomato Passata

  • 1 1/4 cups Beef Stock

  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil

  • 1 tsp Lemon Zest

  • 1 tsp Brown Sugar

  • Spice Mix

  • 1 1/2 tsp Salt

  • 1 tsp Freshly Ground Black Pepper

  • 1 tsp Turmeric

  • 1/2 tsp Cumin

  • 1/2 tsp Coriander

  • 1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper (optional)

  • 1/2 tsp Smoked Paprika

  • Garnish with Fresh Coriander

  • Steamed/Boiled Rice to Serve

Preparation

Step 1 

Add oil and sliced onions to saucepan and cook for 3-4 minutes until onions are soft and golden. 


Step 2

Add in garlic, spices, salt and pepper and continue to cook on low– medium heat for a further 1-2 minutes.


Step 3

Add in chopped beef and stir. Cook for 2 minutes stirring allowing beef to be coated well in spice mix.


Step 4

Stir in tomato passata, brown sugar and cook for further 2 minutes.


Step 5

Add stock, lemon zest, cover and cook for 40-50 minutes until beef is cooked and tender.


Step 6

Serve with steamed or boiled rice and top with fresh coriander.
